Don't be an elitist, android games are now really cool, and mostly free.
Summer is here in the Northern hemisphere everybody, what's best to do than play games all day long and never see the sun ?
When you think about it, Android (and iOS) is perhaps the best platform to enjoy social and MMO games nowadays.
Most games are F2P, and you can skip the cash shop on the good ones (bad one are unfairly pay to win, but why play bad games ?).
What to play this summer :
Albion online.
Gori trying to make it in the big city.
A very good MMORPG, it's like what we thought WOW would become back when it came out in the mid 2000s. Except WOW had a 63million dollar budget, and went the way of PVE and quite linear progression.
In Albion, you do what you want, it's a bit confusing in the beginning, but soon you start to feel a certain atmosphere, and just enjoy this world where players really have an impact.
What Gori liked the most about the game is that you can skip quests and just do your thing, while still being a part of the world : people talk to each other even if it's just to say stupid things or bicker on the chat, and that the game is exactly the same on PC and mobile. It's really cool to be able to play a full-fledged MMO on your phone or tablet !
PUBG.
Gori wants to kill.
No need to talk about PUBG after all these years... It's an ARMA 2 fork (or Gori thinks so) that went on to become one of the most played games in the world.
But nowadays it offers very interesting modes like Arena, Ultimate Arena, Metro Royale ... It's much much more than the stressful battle royale it used to be.
Overall it's one of the best shooter experience on Android.
Combat Master
Feels like a CS/COD free clone, but optimized for low end devices. Once you get a hold of touch and gyro controls, you're in for a ride man !! It's also a 1:1 cross platform game so you can play against PC players while on the phone.
Quite hectic but lots of fun.
Uncharted Waters Origins
Gori and his first mate somewhere in Yucatan...
Gori's favorite game... Also a sandbox game and MMO, except it's about sailing in the vast world.
If you played Uncharted Waters Online, it's almost the same but more in tune with 2025. It's once again a fully cross platform game, where you can do what you want, be it exploring, making money or fighting against other players.
The map is the real map of the world, so get ready to sail the seven seas matey.
Wizardry variants Daphne...
That's a dark, deep, frightening game of dungeon crawling...
Gori already talked about it, but it's worth doing it again because it's really good. You can feel the tension when you explore the deep labyrinths of this game... The reason being that you can lose your characters forever if things go wrong.
It keep the old school charm of Japanese wizardry games (Wizardry gaiden) but soften the edges if you know what I mean (The wizardry gaiden games are really hardcore sometimes). A very good solo RPG to sink all of these sunny summer days.
Now back to playing in the dark room.
